Are you familiar with Alchemy?

Perhaps you know of it from Anime or chemistry class?

Here is a refresher — Alchemy is an ancient practice of transumation [changing one form to another] in matter.

From all corners of the earth Alchemists would study the intricate process of transforming basic elements into precious more ‘nobel’ new elements such as Gold.

Here is the thing — you are an Alchemist yourself.

Not necessarily in a lab creating new elements!

But in another way that bridges your creativity to your lifes work.

This quote summarizes the depth alchemy goes:

The perfection of the human body and soul was thought to result from the alchemical magnum opus (“Great Work”). The concept of creating the philosophers’ stone was variously connected with all of these projects. — Alchemy. (2022, August 24). In Wikipedia.

Two words — “Magnum Opus”

We see in art and literature especially, those that achieved the ‘great work’ as the Magnum Opus of thier life — a lasting legacy of work to be remembered by.

This made made me question:

  • Everyday, we work, build, connect and iterate, and for what?
  • Where does all the effort lead to?

So why not create our own Magnum Opus?

Looking deeper, we see that alchemy is not only the natural world of transformation, its study has always been unspokenly connected to the enlightening of the human mind.

Those who dared to pursue the Magum Opus via the alchemical work, questioned what was possible, and in doing so touched the profound mysteries of life.

Not saying you need to lock yourself away [please don’t do that], however the ‘great work’ that you pursue is achieved in taking great action of birthing your gift into the world.

As young creators, we must embrace this journey. Realizing that the act of doing itself will bring out our greatest potential.

Searching for our great gift is our first task. It deserves time to ponder but more importantly real effort in discovering what we desire to ultimately reach excellence in.

To be unafraid of the pursuit of our gift asks us to accept the downfalls, the embarrassment as well as the struggles. End of the day we are not reaching perfection [does not exist] but instead excellence.

The journey asks you to forge your creation from the depths of the soul.

Deliver it with unquestionable love to others, knowing that it will benefit them and future generations.

And in the process of creating your Magnum Opus, discover yourself.
